You Spin Me Right Round

With Spring Break here, I was finally able to get up to Hood River and visit Foothills Yarn & Fiber for the lesson that came with my spinning wheel.

Wool.

My first skein.

I made yarn!

After setting the twist.

Ready to knit.

Stitches.

Swatch.

An apron for Audrey.

Wow! It's... real... yarn! I can easily imagine how spinning could become addictive, with the easy repetitive motion and the whirring sound.

Harriet - it IS a very soothing occupation. I thought knitting was magical, turning yarn into clothes or toys, but starting with just wool and then getting that final end result, now that's truly magic.

Maryanne, that's exactly what I said when I got the wheel for Christmas - told my parents that next year they'd have to get me an alpaca to keep in the backyard!
