Ms. T just sent me the link t this. I am a fellow knitter and have had this pattern in my bookshelf for a good long while. I always thought it would be fun to make. Was it? It looks great!
Stephanie - Thanks! It IS a sweet set. I knit it in secret, so it was a total surprise to the girls. I bet if you told me your favorite color, you could score a teacup and saucer : )
Femminista - Yeah, this was a total blast to make, and really much easier than I expected. I'm a pretty tight knitter, so some of the i-cord trim (especially at the base of the bigger pieces) gave me hand cramps, but I made myself loosen up and it was fine. I haven't tried the matching placemats yet, but I'm sure I'll get to them eventually. Right now I'm trying to find some good knitted foods to go with, maybe Leigh Radford's cupcakes and some sandwiches. I'm glad you stopped by - it's always a treat to meet new knitters!
I've seen Sharon's tea set in person and it is fabulous! You've got to knit some "food" next, Sharon! I have some British patterns that include food, but you'll have to look at them because some of the food things don't translate well to this country (e.g the Licorice Allsorts) - but I know it has some frosted donuts.
How gorgeous is this.
Harriet, donuts would be perfect! You'll have to bring the patterns over when you come to wind your yarn. Have you knit any food?

Did you use the recommended yarn for your tea set or did you substitute? I tried to make a set for Claire but the dimensions came out all wonky and they ended up more like tumblers or shot glasses. I don't like the idea of my kids playing "bar"....thanks anyway....lol.
Renee - Yeah, I used the yarn it called for and it worked quite well. Did you try a different yarn? I can just see a whole knitted bar set with shot glasses and pretzel sticks, LOL. This is a good alternative to a real china tea set because obviously it can't shatter into dangerous shards. I keep finding flattened teacups all over the house, though!
