The Adroitly Placed Word

I'm thrilled to announce that my poem Taphonomy won John Vick's Adroitly Placed Word Award. Many thanks to John for promoting poetry as a spoken form and for supporting poets with this prize! If you haven't already checked out his site, take a few minutes to read and listen to some of the fine poetry there.

Thank you all very much! I've used my prize to order 2 poetry books for myself (Pablo Neruda; Elizabeth Bishop), an anthology of children's poems to share with my kids, and a DVD of an amazing theatrical production of "Taming of the Shrew" that I haven't seen for 20 years but still remember vividly (after all, if the Bard can't inspire us to poetic greatness, who can?).

I hope everyone takes the opportunity to visit The Adroitly Placed Word and listen to Julie Carter's incredible reading. You won't be disappointed.
