Lovely. My favorite image was "a three-quarter moonrise
crown walls of rainbow stone."
I love many images, but this one is my favorite--"fibrils of scarlet heat."
Patry - Some truths are hard to deny, especially when you're standing in starlight at the bottom of a redrock canyon. Thank you!

Matt - Thank you! What I didn't include in the poem were the climbers on that wall of rainbow stone, still going strong at sundown, and then slowly settling in on their perches for the night. If it was magical for us at the bottom, I can only imagine what it must have been like for them.
Patti - One of the characteristics of the Southwest is the heat and how tangible it can feel, like a physical presence. Thank you!
