Groovy Couture

I've had the worst cold this past week - terrible cough and so weak I couldn't even stand up and cross the room. It's finally fading and I thought I'd catch you up on my latest knitting adventure. I'm designing an entire wardrobe of clothes for my daughters' Groovy Girls (and mine now, since Dennis bought me a very cute one to cheer me up while I was sick. Yes, he IS the best!).

This particular ensemble is a one-of-a-kind creation since I pulled the yarn from my stash and used every last bit. The ball band was long gone, so I have no idea what this stuff was, but I do know it was some sort of novelty yarn one of the girls picked out last year when I first started knitting.

I made it in two pieces - a lace skirt with elastic waistband and a simple tube top with i-cord tie. I have some basic white yarn with a touch of silver sparkly thread that I think will make a nice capelet to go with this, and then Angelique will be ready for the ball!

That doll outfit is adorable! Great job on designing that one.

Emma's costume is pretty much the cutest thing ever. I wouldn't want to take it off either if I had one! You're such a great mom. =)

You are such a good knitter! Do you have patterns or do you make them up yourself?

The dolly clothes are gorgeous, very apt for the Groovy Girls! Are you going to let me be your guinea pig and knit the patterns up from your instructions?

Michi - thanks! I fear knitting is no more profitable than writing poetry. I need to find a more lucrative activity ; )

Faith - Thank you! I was pleased with the result of the doll's skirt and top, particularly since I winged it on that one and kind of made it up as I went. Those fairy outfits ARE cute - one of the good things about having girls is that they love to dress up in stuff like that.

Katie - I'm making up all the ones for the dolls myself. Got lucky with this one, because I didn't do a test swatch or plan it out - just went for it. Thanks!

Lauren - Thanks for your kind words! I was feeling better for a couple of days and now seem to be getting worse again. I'm terrified this is going to become pneumonia, because that's what happened last year at almost this same exact time.

Harriet - Oh yes, will you be my test knitter, please? I don't actually have a pattern for this one, since I knew it was going to be a one-off. I have to revise the patterns for the nightgown and robe a bit, and then I'll set you loose on them. Thanks!

Hope all the nurture that I'm sure your lovely family gave you this weekend has you feeling well again.

Meanwhile, that Groovy Girl looks positively exultant in her new duds.

Patry - yes, my family is great! My three year old likes to 'take care' of me when I'm sick by giving me stuffed toys and snuggling with me on the couch. I'm feeling much better and hoping that's an end to all ilnesses until next winter!

The Groovy Girls are eagerly awaiting the opening of their new boutique.

Hi Kate! I'm so glad you stopped by. I love meeting new people here. Sarah has the BEST quizzes, doesn't she? I just popped over to your blog (didn't leave a comment yet, but I will) and saw that you are educating your 5 children at home - wow! We're considering homeschooling our 6 year old because she doesn't fit into the school system very well (she's gifted), but I don't know if I could be that organized. What's your secret?

And yes, groovy girls have all the fun!
