Along with falling leaves, pumpkins, and the candy-sweetened faces of little goblins and ghouls, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
There are many ways you can help yourself and others in the fight against this disease. Check out the American Cancer Society to find just a few.
One easy way to make a difference is by simply clicking the pink button at The Breast Cancer Site. For every click, sponsors donate money for one free mammogram. They are currently behind in meeting their goals, so please, take the time for one quick click.
Another way to help is by purchasing Melissa Etheridge's new single I Run for Life from iTunes. Through the first part of November, Melissa is donating 100% of the proceeds from this song to breast cancer awareness and prevention.
If you are one of the lucky few whose life has not been touched in some way by breast cancer, count yourself fortunate. At the same time, give a little -- a click of the mouse button, a 99 cent song -- and join in the fight to rid everyone's life of this disease.
ADDENDUM: I just found this and had to share it. For those who've been through breast cancer and had a mastectomy, you can now take up needles and yarn and make your own prosthesis. Yep, that's right -- a knitted titty.
Don't knit? Have a prosthesis hand knit just for you at Tit Bits.

heyyyyy Sharon, thanks for posting this, a dear friend of mine has just been diagnosed, for the second time, with breast cancer, thank you..xoxo
Patricia, your friend is in my thoughts and I'm sending healing vibes her way. My husband lost his mother to breast cancer when he was a child. Let's hope a day comes when no one has to lose a loved one to it anymore.
Oh Sharon, I'm so sorry about your mother in law and that you never had a chance to meet her, it's very tragic, and yes, let's hope for that, xoxo
I remember the first time I went out after my breast surgery too (referring to the link you gave). I "only" had a segmental mastectomy, which reduced me from an E to a D on the affected side (still leaving my larger, non-operated side a double-E). For the first time in my life, I stuffed my bra with a sock to even things out. I ended up using an old shoulder pad after that for awhile, and now I don't use anything. Of course, I'm strange as hell and I don't give a rat's ass... and it's not like I'm completely empty on one side either. But I've often thought that if I end up having the whole thing removed, I wouldn't want a weighted prosthesis either. What a great idea this woman has come up with -- knitted titties! I love it!
Ginger - I like your style! I too don't give a rat's ass what other people think of me, especially when it comes to things like appearance. My husband said one of the reasons he fell in love with me was because I loved to ride in his convertible and didn't give a hoot about what it did to my hair.
Interestingly, this woman with the knitted boobs puts pebbles in them, which I'm thinking would be even more weight than a regular prosthesis. Could come in handy as a self-defense weapon, though. Just whip that puppy out and wail away.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your experience!
