I may have to knit a larger one for Kate. I swear her head grew while I was knitting the thing.
Emma has been wearing hers when she goes out to sell Girl Scout cookies. I'm not sure if it's the sweet face or the hat, but she's selling a lot of cookies.

I love the hats... They both turned out great. I think you get an impressive result very quickly when you knit hats!

Sarah - thanks! She's becoming addicted to selling; she says she never wants to stop.
Faith - The pattern is called Like Father, Like Son, from a Leisure Arts book called Creative Collection to Knit. The child's size supposedly fits 4-6 year olds. I had to knit the adult size for Emma and it's none too big on her (my kids have big noggins). I used Patons Classic Merino, which is what the pattern calls for, and was quite pleased with the yarn.
Harriet - You're right, hats are the instant gratification of the knitting world. It only took me a day and a half to knit Kate's hat, and that was knitting a few minutes here and there for the most part.
Patti - Thanks! I'm seriously considering making one of these hats for myself, they turned out so nice.
